About The RVDL Soccer Academy

Player Development is not something that happens overnight.  It is a  journey with an investment in time and effort for the future of their game!

Building on the experieinces of the RVDL founding members, RVDL's progressive curriculum incorporates a disctiinctive Attacking Total Football Style. The Player Centric positive learning environment allows each player to develop into a creative confident player who can provide positive support to their team in any competitive game situation.

Our program is a systematic approach that continually builds on the layers before it.  Having a system to develop and monitor habits along with building technical skills coupled with the desire to improve, ultimately creates ball confidence and superior decision making, that is what makes a great player long term.  Team or Game success is short lived and in the moment, Player development and success is for a lifetime.

Enroll in an RVDL Soccer Academy program and experience the very latest training and coaching methods to help players improve their technique and game awareness in a very friendly, open and active learning environment where the players are encouraged to express themselves without any fear of making mistakes.

Philosophy

We believe that a soccer player at youth level will develop much better and quicker as a player and a person if we create a fun, safe, open and active learning environment, where each individual player is challenged at their ability level and development age. We ask players to come up with the answers themselves and problem solve during our sessions. The retention of information that is given during our sessions is therefore far greater than if we would coach in a constant command style.

We have moulded these philosophies and experiences into a progressive and age specific soccer program. Dominating 1v1 situations all over the field, progressing this to 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4 is a big part of our PDP (Player Development Program).

Every one of our sessions has a topic that will be incorporated with natural progression in all the following:

Warm-up (every player ball each)
Unopposed session
Opposed session (incorporate a challenge/competition/game element)
Small sided games

Our PDP will cover all technical aspects of the game, with lots of skills development and a lot of ball contact. Through our warm-ups and unopposed sessions players will get the chance to express themselves, Gaining confidence by repetition and encouragement supported by quality coaching with a lot of detail. This "can do" environment that we work in, and the feeling that there is no fear of making mistakes will help players with their confidence and with the mental side of the game. When we introduce opposition in our sessions, whether it is passive or active, players will go through the decision making process again working players mentally. During this phase players also work on their physical side with upper body strength and body position, ball protection and acceleration away from defenders. Finally during our small sided games the tactical element will be worked on to develop player’s awareness of field positions. The encouragement from our coaches to communicate, our rituals and the ice breakers at the start of the courses will help players with the social side, on and off the field.

It is our mission to deliver high intensity multi faceted sessions that include a lot of detailed coaching in an environment where all players are challenged at their ability level and where they experience how much fun soccer training can be. All players are encouraged to develop good playing habits. During our program the players work on all technical aspects of the game. This includes passing, receiving, dribbling, skills, defending, finishing, all progressing from 1v1 to 2v2 up to 6v6. These high intensity sessions also include soccer related fitness(SAQ).
