Coaching Education is a vital component of the SAAC Academy. Just as a
parent should not entrust the education, health or care of their child to an
unqualified teacher, doctor or caregiver, we do not expect parents serious about
their children's athletic development to leave it to coaches without the proper formal
training.
While
there are many good quality people without licenses that are doing commendable
work as coaches, the fact that SAAC requires its coaches to be licensed will
tell you a couple of very important things about the person training your child.
Firstly, that this person is committed to becoming a better coach. Just as
players must train to perform well in games, coaches must be trained in order to
properly pass along their knowledge to the young players. Secondly, they are not
people that think they know everything and they are willing to expose themselves
to different styles and philosophies in order to find what works best for them.
As well
as requiring minimum licensing requirements for running teams, the Academies
also encourages all of their coaches to continue to develop throughout their
coaching careers. There is always more to learn and there are endless
sources of information available around the world. As part of this
continuing education focus, SAAC will endeavour to promote coaching seminars
throughout the year from high-profile local and international coaches. |
