Soccer Academy Alliance Canada

Membership Policies

UPDATED FOR 2015

Soccer Academy Alliance Canada will consider organizations for three types of membership

Organizations that wish to participate in SAAC events must apply for full-time status, and if approved, will be designated as either a Charter Academy or School of Excellence. Interested groups can contact saac@academysoccer.ca for an application package.

ONTARIO MEMBERS ONLY

Organizations in Ontario must first be designated by the Ontario Soccer Association Recognized Non-Club Academy (ORNCA). The designation involves an independent assessment of the academy by the OSA and will require the academy to report all full-time players to the OSA.  Details on the process can be obtained by contacting the OSA:

Once an organization has been recognized by the OSA and approved by SAAC, they will be eligible for SAAC competitions and certain outside competitions as regulated by the OSA.

Internal SAAC Competitions

Academy teams at U14 and up participate in the SAAC Academy League, an 20-game program that runs from April to November.

Development teams (U13 and below) participate in weekly competitions against other SAAC members from April to November.

Exhibition Games with Ontario teams

SAAC teams are eligible to play exhibition games against all sanctioned teams.  Academy teams will not need travel permits to play exhibition games anywhere in Ontario.

Academy teams can play other ORNCA members in exhibitions without restriction.

Academy teams can play Ontario club teams provided that the club team:

Obtains permission to host an exhibition game from their home District

If the game is being played outside their home District, the club would also need to obtain permission to travel from their home District

Again, the Academy team will not be required to get permission for an exhibition game against an Ontario Club team.

Exhibition Games with teams outside Ontario

Academy teams wishing to play exhibition games against sanctioned teams from outside Ontario will require:

An Application to Host an Exhibition Game (AHEG) approved by the OSA

The team from outside the province to receive permission from its governing organization affiliated with FIFA or a FIFA Member Organization to travel to, and participate in the exhibition game.

The team from outside the province to provide proof of accident and liability insurance.
